Moko the Dolphin saves whales!

A mother and baby Pygmy Sperm Whale had got themselves stranded behind a sand bar at Mahia Beach, New Zealand. Volunteers had tried countless times to guide them out through the narrow channel and back out to sea but had failed. The situation was hopeless and they were about to have to euthanaise them (kill them kindly so they don't suffer as much) when 'Moko' a friendly local dolphin swam up to the whales and led them safely out to sea.

It's thought Moko heard the whales distressed cries. After the whales were safe, Moko swam back to the beach and played water games with local residents. Go Moko!

Who can believe that the Japanese eat these beautiful and intelligent creatures (yes, they eat dolphins as well as whales!)
